The lighting and sound equipment I’m requesting will make a tremendous impact on my students' learning. Currently, we have no access to any professional-grade equipment, which limits their ability to fully explore the technical side of theatre. By providing proper lighting, my students will learn how to design and manipulate light to create mood, focus attention, and enhance storytelling. The sound equipment will allow us to amplify their voices, add music, and create dynamic soundscapes, giving them hands-on experience with an essential aspect of theatre production. This equipment will give them the opportunity to explore the full spectrum of what it means to stage a performance, which is an invaluable skill in both the arts and beyond.
My students are incredibly well-rounded, passionate, and dedicated to theatre.
Despite the fact that we are a small charter school with limited funding, they consistently rise to the occasion, creating performances that showcase their creativity and teamwork. Many of my students come to the drama program with little or no experience, but they embrace the challenge of learning everything from acting to technical design. They are resourceful, hard-working, and eager to learn more about the craft of theatre. Without a stage or any existing lighting and sound equipment, they’ve still managed to put on incredible performances--even making it to the Georgia State One Act Play competition, but they deserve the opportunity to work with real tools that match their dedication.
