My Project

In our kindergarten classroom at a Title I school, many of our students face economic challenges that limit access to enriching, hands-on learning experiences outside of school. That’s why I’m passionate about creating an engaging, equitable classroom where every child has the tools they need to thrive—and a light box is the perfect addition to support joyful, developmentally appropriate learning.

With a classroom light box, my young learners will be able to explore math, literacy, science, and art concepts through the magic of illuminated play.

From sorting colorful translucent shapes to tracing letters and numbers, the light box turns everyday learning into an exciting sensory experience. It helps students build fine motor skills, visual perception, pattern recognition, and problem-solving abilities—all while they’re having fun.

Learning through play is especially powerful in early childhood. It encourages creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking in a natural, low-pressure way. For many of my students, this kind of play-based, hands-on exploration is a rare opportunity to engage deeply and meaningfully with academic content.

As a Title I educator, I believe that equitable access to rich, engaging learning materials is not just a bonus—it’s a necessity. With your help, our classroom will shine a little brighter, and our students will have the chance to light up with excitement as they explore, discover, and grow.
