This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Learning to read is a milestone you never forget! Our students are on their way - and in two languages no less (English & Spanish). Yet, only having access to classroom computers for two students at a time cuts down on the endless learning opportunities the Internet provides.

In our dual language classroom we are working towards being not only bilingual, but also bi-literate, and the fever is catching!

We have children with many different linguistic backgrounds coming together to create meaningful learning experiences in two languages everyday. Their flexibility and creativity with language is impressive.

My Project

We are asking for 5 Kindle Fires in order to take our literacy work to the next level! We know that with the addition of technology and with the endless resources the Internet offers at their finger tips, our students' reading will really take off. Just imagine students working independently towards their individualized goals in a fun, familiar, and engaging way! We could access audio books in both Spanish and English available free on the internet. We could download our favorite classroom books for reading and rereading. We could interact with the endless websites and games that teach every thing from English letter sounds, Spanish syllables, to new vocabulary and creative writing. The possibilities are infinite!

Help us to inspire our 25 promising bilingual kindergarteners to light the literacy fire!
