My Students

My students are in a Title I middle school. They face many challenges at home, but I want them to be excited about learning and happy to come to school! Many students do not initially see the value in an English Language Arts class, but my mission is to help them value the life lessons learned in my class and from the literature.

Middle school is a tough time for students, anyway, but I want to help them develop a life-long passion for learning and growing.

I am a life-long learner, myself, and am always trying to learn ways to innovate and excite my students. I enjoy incorporating new ideas in my classroom to engage my students and motivate them to learn.

My Project

I have always been inspired by Ron Clark's enthusiasm, passion, and high expectations for his students. I have read about his work and seen documentaries, but now I want to see his magic in action. Student engagement leads to better learning outcomes and higher motivation. I want to light my students' passion for learning.

Education is not stagnant.

It should change with the students, the community, and technology available. I am hungry for new ways to get my students excited about school and ready to learn.

Not only will my students be directly impacted by what I learn at this conference, but my future students for years to come will benefit from my learning experience at the Ron Clark Academy. I will also share my experience with fellow teachers in order to improve our instruction school-wide.
