This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are an incredible group of 5 and 6 year olds who are growing up in the inner city. Our school is Title 1 and provides them with both breakfast and lunch to ensure they are not going hungry. Many of my students' families struggle financially and several life in shelters or are homeless.

Nevertheless, they come to school excited about learning every day and I do my best to give them exciting and engaging ways to learn.

I am inspired daily by the passion they have for school! My students and their families have such a commitment to their learning despite all of their hardships.

My Project

My students have been working hard this year to learn their shapes and numbers. To solidify this new learning, they need hands on and engaging ways to practice their new learning. I know how thrilled my students would be to be able to use this light table and math manipulatives!

I truly believe these math resources would be inspiring to my students and would quickly become a favorite math station in our room.

In our classroom we have some hands on math materials, but most are made of paper and my students do not find them very exciting and are not that interested in using them. This light table and corresponding math manipulatives would get daily use by my students.
