Lightening Quick Vocabulary

My students need these tablets to look up vocabulary as they engage close reading of historical articles and primary sources. Having the ease and quickness of looking up a word will facilitate acquisition and motivation.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students walk into our classroom every day excited to learn about history. I have bred within them a sense of curiosity of how interesting history can be. Everyday they learn one astonishing fact related to the topic which effects them to this day or their culture. I have mainly done this with enthusiasm, genuine cheerfulness, care, and fun historical facts!

I have students siting down and already asking "Mr. what are we learning today?".

I would like to transfer that excitement with an electronic enhancement tablet. To further expose them to new topics using colorful pictures, video, text-to-audio reading for dyslexia, and lightening speed vocabulary look up. Literacy is the core requirement in life. Our students in public schools are dangerously behind.

I very much believe in them even with their learning disabilities. I hold them to a high standard and always say "get a 100!" On test.

In my NYC Public school self contained classes, I have a "melting pot" of cultural diversity and needs. From English language learners, hearing impaired to varied learning disabled. I work in a TITLE 1 school with 90 percent free lunch (low income) population in my self contained

My Project

This project will keep motivation high in seeking out the efficient resources in the internet for vocabulary enrichment. Students in my classes have a very basic vocabulary bank within them. This tool will enhance independent learning and acquisition via reappeared exposure, varied visual (view images), audible (hear the pronunciation), and tactile (typing words in). This will create a learning environment with a tool they are highly familiar with. Also, it will help them become leaders of their own learning by taking initiative to research questions they may have right away. These literacy group circles will engage a text by reading closely, pausing to research a concept or vocabulary and anotating accordingly on paper.
