My Students

The great philosopher Socrates enunciated, "Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel". This helps to exemplify my own views about educating students. I believe my students have innate talents in many areas, which just need to be kindled by sound instruction.

My amazing students, all of whom have special needs, are thirsty for knowledge despite their many challenges.

Ours is an inquiry based curriculum that places a great deal of emphasis on students' exploration of the world in which they live. it is indeed remarkable to see my students valiantly striving to keep up with the rigors of this demanding curriculum, and staying on target, just like their non disabled peers. They want to learn so badly and my role as the teacher is to support and encourage them every step of the way. When my students are happy, I am happy. Our days are not always easy but for the most part we rise to meet, and more often than not, overcome our daily challenges. At the end of the day, when my students can say, "school was fun today", I go home with a sense of accomplishment.

My Project

A projector is as essential to my classroom as pencils are to my students' writing. We use the projector everyday. I present my lessons via power point. There are always videos connected to "Go Math" or our IB curriculum which are tied to my lessons' focus, for my students to see. Many smart lessons are done with the aid of the projector. Our current projector is now broken and we desperately need a new one to replace it. Many of my students are visual learners and participate well in lessons that are delivered in a visual format. Not having a functioning projector to use in the classroom presents students with a great disadvantage. With your donations, I can make my lessons come alive again for my students. Please help in this worthwhile venture!

Oh what a pleasure it will be to have a proper functioning projector again!

A projector allows me to present information to my students in diverse formats. It allows them to engage in interactive lessons that capture their interests. It enables them to complete quizzes right after a lesson is delivered and to take notes as they are viewing an important video. The projector is an important tool in our daily teaching and learning activities and we are asking for you to kindly help us get one.
