This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Kindergarteners are curious hands-on learners. They need repetition and lots of practice to master foundational skills like counting, sorting, patterning and number sense. The need to experience successes and failures, designing and re-designing, problem solving, adjusting and conferring with peers. STEM play, such as that which occurs when students explore mathematical and engineering concepts on a light table, is critical to helping students strengthen these skills.
Help take the students on a sensory adventure as they explore foundational math and engineering concepts with color, light, cause and effect and more in an interactive and engaging STEM light center!
Educational STEM toys improve hand-eye coordination and cognitive skills in early development. The translucent tubes creation sest will teach the students about basic geometric shapes, enhance hand-eye coordination, color recognition, matching, cognitive ability, creativity, imagination, and innovation! The math trays will illuminate math concepts with clear trays made especially for light tables. The light table manipulatives can be placed right into a tray to sort, count or pattern, and the molded compartments will prevent children’s work from shifting and keep unused pieces within easy reach. The florescent light covers will reduce the harsh glare of the classroom lights to create a peaceful and comfortable environment for exploring, studying and learning.
