Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My diverse learners are bright, motivated and one-of-a-kind individuals. They put a smile on my face each and every day, and they all enjoy coming to school and succeeding in the classroom. I feel so blessed to be their case manager and I am lucky to work in such a rewarding field.

Ninety-five percent of our school is considered low-income and receives free or reduced-price lunch.

The student body consists of sixty-five percent Latino, thirty percent African-American and five percent Caucasian. Even though it has become extremely difficult and sometimes frustrating to educate without needed supplies, our students still come to school eager to learn.

DonorsChoose.org is an amazing organization that supports and enhances the learning experiences of the students at my school each and every year.

My Project

My school has created a Snoezelen Multi-Sensory room for our learners with special needs and those who are in need of sensory and calming breaks throughout the day in order to be successful at school. Snoezelen rooms can aid learning/development, help to relax an agitated student or stimulate and raise alertness levels of someone who has sensory processing disorders. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to create an environment with soothing sounds, captivating aromas, tactile experiences, massage and vibration, and interesting light effects. The Snoezelen muti-sensory room will benefit early learners, students with learning disabilities, students with challenging behaviors, autism and sensory processing disorders.

We have designated a wonderful space for our Snoezelen room, but we are in need of the products that will create a multi-sensory experience within this environment.

One of these items is a tabletop light panel and light table toys to use with the panel. The light table is perfect for exploring light and color, scientific demonstrations and provides light and tactile stimulation, which creates an intense sensory experience for those who use it. The tabletop panel is perfect for easy setup and storage. The light table manipulatives will provide our diverse learners with a sensory rich academic experience. We would greatly appreciate your donation to our school's Snoezelen Multi-Sensory Room. We are thrilled to be able to offer our students a soothing and captivating environment, and we know the benefits of having this space within our school will be endless. We are extremely grateful for your kindness and generosity.
