This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our self-contained ASD Preschool classroom includes 12 three- and four-year-olds with various abilities. Our students are hands-on learners who require short and engaging activities.

They are happy and curious learners who think concretely and literally.

They play at home and at school, learning with their whole bodies - loving to taste, touch, move, explore, smell, watch, and wonder.

They look forward to coming to school and experiencing a range of activities. They are always ready to engage in active learning. Each day is focused on structure and exposure to new ideas and constructive work.

My Project

Please help me give my students a light table to use for play and socialization! This hardwood table features a big illuminated surface and has plenty of room for building and exploring. It will be a great addition to our classroom curriculum.

Light is a fantastic source of visual sensory input and can be a calming way to use many colorful manipulatives and encourage students to interact socially with their friends at school.

The light table will allow my students to practice, develop, and strengthen their fine motor skills. They will work on their learning goals by using manipulatives to learn about letters, shapes, colors, counting, and sorting, and receive sensory feedback while working on the light table — developing skills through play.
