Musical, creative, inquisitive, and energetic: these are all words that describe my students. They love to sing, move, play instruments, and learn in hands-on ways. They love to use drums, Orff instruments, and ukuleles in our music room and they love to perform.
Around 25% of our students come from military families and this brings them their own unique set of challenges.
Our school is a true community school with all students living in a tight suburban area of around 2.5 miles in radius. This allows students to participate in many extracurricular activities, and we try to offer them many varied opportunities to do so.
My Project
Students are drawn to lights and led lights are all the rage right now! I want to create a bright, interactive music staff area of my whiteboard where students can learn in a hands on way about the staff and music alphabet.
I'll use the electrical tape, puck lights, and vinyl letters to create the staff and the light up "notes" on the staff, complete with letter names.
The batteries will of course be used to power the lights. Students will use this interactive board for games and centers as we learn to read music in a fun way.
