My students need Handwriting Without Tears Sound Box and the Light Table learning materials to provide hands-on experiences to make the learning of letters and sounds come alive.
When my preschool students enter the classroom, they immediately look around for any new materials and activities. If they discover something interesting, a buzz suddenly fills the room and their hands are eager to explore. My special needs students have a wide range of delays which include communication, fine motor, sensory, vision, physical, social and developmental. I am happy that I get to work with such incredible learners, despite their challenges, who are motivated to do their best when they come into my classroom. I want to be able to meet the needs of each of my students while also providing them with experiences to enrich their environment. With the right support and materials, my students can reach all their goals, while having fun at the same time.
My Project
I will be utilizing the Handwriting Without Tears Sound Around Box during circle time to enrich language and literacy activities. This box will allow the students to have hands-on experiences with letters, rhymes, syllables, alphabet knowledge, oral language, and much more. The activities will provide the children opportunities to see, build, hear and touch each letter and sound as we move through the alphabet! This gives all the kids a chance to "shine" by showing what they have learned through their own individual learning style.
My students learn by doing!
The light table and learning materials will allow me to give my students a very "bright" and interesting way to to build letters, be creative, and continue to work on their literacy and fine motor skills through play! Their faces will "light up" when they see this new activity!
