My Students

My awesome school is located in the middle of Minneapolis. I like to consider our school a "melting pot". Our students come from many different cultures as well as different socioeconomic backrounds. We are about 60% free and reduced lunch.

My 3rd grade students love to learn.

They are like sponges, absorbing everything around them. They are at various academic levels ranging from kindergarten to 6th grade. Many need additional help in class and at home. We have volunteers from our community that come in at various times/days to assist.

My Project

Students need a calm learning environment in the classroom to be successful. Florescent lighting can be overstimulating to most students which can cause distractions during learning time. The light covers will add a calming effect to the classroom environment.

The ball seats also will improve students ability to focus on learning.

The "regular" school chair is not for everyone. Student need options to seat where they are the most successful.

I like to create a differentiated classroom environment for students. I understand that traditional furniture and lighting are not for all students. Options need to be offered to all students.
