Light the Way to Learning

Help me give my students access to exploration with a light table. I have included both a light tablet and an extensive set of manipulatives for the students to use with the tablet.

My Students

My students are a playful, creative and thoughtful group of 3-5 year olds with a variety of learning abilities. Coming from diverse backgrounds, my class includes a mixture of both typically developing students and exceptional students.

My students will gain a great foundation in multicultural awareness with these materials.

Having an awareness of cultures that differ from their own will lend students the ability to think about things in new ways and explore new concepts about other cultures in a safe and nurturing environment. It will also encourage them to be open to new experiences as the present themselves in life.

We live in a world full of so much diversity and amazing skills and it is changing every day. As a teacher, my goal is to prepare my students as much as possible for the real world and all of its wonderful diversity.

My Project

I am hoping to purchase a light table and some manipulatives that will work with it and provide a wide range of learning opportunities.

Light tables are an amazing way to engage students in the learning process and give them access to concepts such as color mixing and light properties while enhancing early literacy and math skills.

Translucent pattern shapes, dominoes, letter and number pieces will provide a myriad of math and literacy activities. Included in the set are bugs, gems, and buttons that will encourage exploration and much discussion about sorting and comparing objects.

My students will have access to this center daily and along with the manipulative center I have added to go along with it, they can explore with water colors, tracing and other found objects.
