My Project

Setting up a calming corner provides students with a safe space to manage their emotions and refocus, which is especially important for EC students who may need extra support in this area. Students with disabilities or learning challenges may become easily overwhelmed by sensory input, academic demands, or social interactions.

A light table offers them a quiet space to retreat, allowing them to decompress and reduce anxiety, that's where the calming kits and the sensory items become a major part of the calming corner.

When students feel frustrated or overstimulated, they may exhibit challenging behaviors, such as outbursts, refusal to participate, or withdrawal.

A calming corner can serve as an intervention point, helping them calm down before these behaviors escalate. I want my students to feel safe once they enter my classroom and they will also have a safe place to return to.
