This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are young enthusiastic learners! They enjoy designing and building structures with blocks. They especially enjoy racing vehicles down the ramps that they have created.
During choice time you'll always find a group of students in the block center building roads and constructing ramps.
Some of my students are preverbal and some are learning English as a second language. They use gestures, words and word approximations to communicate their wants and needs. Some of my students readily share their primary language, Spanish, with their English speaking peers and enthusiastically participate in learning opportunities that enhance their English skills.
My Project
My students will use the Color Changing Light Table and the Magna-Tiles to explore shapes and colors. They will use their creativity to make a variety of structures both with their peers and independently.
My students are learning to make choices.
With the addition of the Color Changing Light Table and the Magna-Tiles, my young learners will have another opportunity to make decisions about their play. With your support, my students will be able to choose between two learning centers that feature building materials- our current block center and the new "Light Table" center.
