Our school of eight classrooms is small but we service over 100 children in our diverse city. We have occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, physical therapists, a board-certified behavioral consultant, a school psychologist, and a school adjustment counselor to help our students grow and learn. We all come from different backgrounds and cultures!
Each child here is an individual and is learning at their individual developmental level.
My classroom includes students with and without disabilities and are part of a multi-age classroom of 3-5 year olds. In our classroom, everyone is different and that's okay! Each one of us learns at our own pace!
My Project
The materials in this project will help my students learn through play! Sensory play with this light table will help my children increase their skills! This table can also be used for math and literacy times too!
Sensory play supports language development, cognitive growth, fine and gross motor skills, problem solving skills, and social interaction.
Sensory play also builds nerve connections in the brain, which increases a child's ability to complete more complex learning tasks. My students will use the light box to explore the sensory beads, sensory rings, and sensory balls. Each of these sensory materials feel different! The students will use the light table sensory tray to light up the materials and keep them contained. These materials will give my students more options to grow and learn in the classroom! The light table can also be used with magnet blocks and other materials we have in our school.
