Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are passionate, creative, and eager to learn. They come from the vibrant and resilient Southside community of Houston, and every day they bring their unique voices, perspectives, and talents into our classroom. Many of them are trailblazers—often the first in their families to take Advanced Placement courses or explore visual arts in depth. They are proud of who they are and where they come from, and they deserve access to resources that reflect and support their identity, history, and potential.

This project is focused on two deeply meaningful courses: AP African American Studies and Visual Art.

These subjects help students explore the richness of Black history, culture, and artistic expression while also developing critical thinking, communication, and creative skills. To fully engage with these topics, our students need basic classroom supplies—like binders, highlighters, and pens—as well as high-quality books, art materials, and culturally responsive learning tools.

With your support, we can provide books written by Black authors, primary source materials for deeper historical inquiry, and essential art supplies that allow students to express themselves visually. These resources will not only help students meet academic standards—they will help them see themselves as scholars, artists, and leaders.

Your generosity will have a direct and lasting impact on a group of students who are ready to make their mark on the world. Thank you for helping us build a classroom where every voice is valued, and every student has what they need to thrive.
