Life Studies For Young Biologists!

My Project

My students are part of a program for sessional am/pm PreK3. This program gives children from all cultures, areas, and incomes an opportunity to learn and thrive within the district. My energetic preschoolers enter the classroom ready to learn, discover, and explore.

Our PreK 3 students have a growing fascination and interest in nature and the living creatures they encounter.

Together as a learning community, we have worked really hard to build a flexible living sciences space in our classroom which includes African dwarf frogs & betta fish. We have enjoyed visits from native animals such as gulf coast toads, leopard frogs & spiny lizards and Texas brown tarantulas.

When Spring approaches, we hope to engage our students in various life cycles that take place in the world around them.

Along with the plants they will grow from seed & hatching chicks, we know the children will also delight in the experience harvesting mushrooms and witnessing the metamorphosis of butterflies, ladybugs & praying mantis. It is with these exposures to life cycles and ecosystems that we believe that the children will witness and learn the differences between living organisms and the way they live. Through these biology based experiences, we seek to encourage a respect and appreciation for nature while also instilling in our a students a sense understanding and recognition towards the loved ones who care for them.
