This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school has a diverse and exciting population. Our students are from kindergarten to 5th grade. Our school is a Spanish dual language immersion with 2 classes in 3rd through 5th and four classes in Kindergarten through 2nd. As a Title I school, we strive to meet the students' needs academically, physically, and emotionally.
Each student brings their own story to the fabric of our school.
A tapestry of language and backgrounds mix within our walls. Each faculty member strives to teach each child where they are and raise them up.
We believe in the mission of our school and work to make them productive students. We give them the tools to succeed and thrive. I am always impressed by the level of dedication to the students and their best interests. I believe in our community and enjoy seeing the love within our walls. Students come into our school and know that each person cares for them. Each child has a place in our school.
My Project
In my classroom we will be focusing on how drama skills can translate to the outside world. We will be using books to explore other peoples realities and learn from other cultures. We will see ourselves and we have a place in this world.
We will learn traditional drama skills like puppetry and story telling in many forms.
In the drama class we will make themselves into puppets as well as learn how to tell a story through puppet. With the new supplies we can make something that the student will treasure.
We will be working on our first shows since the Covid-19 has hindered having audiences. These students are ready to share their stories.
