This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is in the 4th largest district in NY state. We have over 90% of our students eligible for free or reduced lunch. I try to create a supportive, nurturing environment. I encourage my students to ask for help and to help one another. Many students opt to come to my classroom during lunch to work on hw and projects. I love that they become independent learners and learn to love history. They begin to learn their own learning styles. I host a club to promote life skills & help students connect and meet new friends (Crafts & Confections Club). It is a free club and we have over 75 members. I pay for everything and want every student interested to attend … and to not be discouraged by a club or activities fee.
My Project
This project will be used with my Crafts & Confections club. We have over 95 members and I only have one Cricut machine I purchased. I want each student that joins our club to learn new skills (we bake, sew, cook, paint, stitch, etc).
I want students to make their own club shirts, learn to use the software and the Cricut machine to make their creativity come to life, all while meeting new classmates.
I do not charge for any projects, but as the club grows, more resources would be helpful.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
