My Project
Our classroom is filled with creative, unique & passionate students who require a wide range of supports to be successful. In order to meet the needs of my students I have to find the perfect balance of academics and life skills when planning our weekly lessons. As a self-contained teacher I am responsible for teaching my students how to solve word problems, answer comprehension questions, write descriptive paragraphs as well as advocate for themselves, avoid danger, manage money & make friends.
With your support, we will be able to build a coffee shop program that provides my students with the chance to develop their adaptive & academic skills.
"Every student can learn, just not on the same day, or in the same way". We will be able to truly capitalize on the strengths of all of my students when implementing our school-wide coffee shop. Students will be able to select from jobs like Baristas, Shop Managers, Delivery Crew & Cashiers. This coffee shop will be fully run by my students with minimal guidance from myself & other teaching staff. Students will be responsible for running the Keruig K-Slim Coffee Maker, restocking disposable cups & supplies, pushing our cart to make classroom deliveries & organizing money in our cash box while making change.
All funds earned through our coffee shop will go directly back to purchasing additional supplies to keep our shop running. The focus will not be on earning funds for our classroom but rather maintaining a programing that enables my students to practice vital life skills.
This project will benefit the students in our self-contained classroom in addition to the hard-working staff at our school. With your support we will be able to have a lasting, positive impact on our entire school family.
