Life Skills for Lifelong Independence

My Students

My students struggle with speech and language delays, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and are severely impacted by their disabilities. I teach a range of ability levels that include a wide variety of children with developmental and functional needs. Each and every child I teach is unique and amazing.

The students in my classroom are working very hard to develop language, functional, and social skills.

It is my job to help these students find their voice, be it with speech, pictures, text, or augmentative devices. Please consider helping me to teach students these critical skills to further their independence and education.

My Project

I am requesting a sofa to add to my life skills classroom and ink cartridges to allow me to create personalized resources for my students.

The students in my class tend to have difficulty transferring skills from school to home.

I have been working on creating a life skills classroom for my special needs students for the past three years to give them a different setting and promote generalization of skills. The life skills room is also a place to apply the reading, math, and science skills we learn in the classroom to real life experiences. Creating a life skills room will also give students the opportunity to practice the real world, functional skills they need to increase their daily independence.
