Life Skills Center

Help me give my students a washer dryer, ice cream parlor, aprons, gardening, fruit and veggie sorting, and community helper dress up clothes for our "Life Skills Center".

My Students

I have the most amazing and wonderful special education severe and profound class. My students come from very low-income families. Many of my students live in government housing and the only meals they have are the free breakfast and lunch they receive at school.

My students come to school every day excited to learn reading, math, and life skills.

They are like sponges and I want to provide them with all the tools they will need to be successful.

My Project

The materials for my project will be used in different life skill centers for my severe and profound self contained special education classroom. My special needs students learn academics, social skills, and life skills. I want to have life skill centers for the kids to practice how to use a washer and dryer, sort, fold, and hang up clothes, and put socks together; learn how to garden; practice being different community helpers and learning about their jobs. Children learn best through play and hands on experiences and not with cards or paper and pencil. I want to give my students hands-on materials to practice life skills.
