This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is a wonderful kindergarten through eighth grade school with students from various backgrounds and academic needs. We focus on a wide range of skills to help our students develop and grow their skills to independence and learning.

We are working hard to integrate independent functioning and life skills tasks to help students bring concepts they learn in class to real life situations!

This is where we need your help! My students have come up with the idea of having a refreshment cart to take orders, prepare and distribute coffee, tea, iced tea and lemonade in the warmer months.

My Project

Would you like a cup of coffee or tea? My students are ready to make you one! We just need a coffee cart to bring our ideas to life! We plan on doing this through making coffee (among other beverages like lemonade and tea!) on our coffee cart! We plan on having order sheets where teachers and staff can submit their request that my students will then fill and deliver! They'll be able to practice following a recipe to create the chosen drink, demonstrate appropriate hygiene, practice social skills to interact with their customers and material management to clean and maintain the tools used.

There is such a wonderful sense of accomplishment when students are able to create something to share and bring a little joy to others.

The weather in Chicago tends to be extreme and ever changing. As a result, my students have come up with making coffee, tea, lemonade or iced tea based on the weather. You'll notice tools and materials vital for these drinks in our wish list. While they do plan on charging per cup, they've also decided that the proceeds would be divided by 50% going back into their business and the other 50% being donated to local charities. Help my students bring refreshment and caffeination to our teachers and staff!
