This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are in a small 6th-12th grade school in the South Bronx. My students, due to a variety of reasons, have been deprived of a valid science education for many years. I am trying to give my students a hands-on science experience that could change their lives and improve their mindset when they think about science. Some of my students haven't had science since 4th grade. A true education doesn't just focus on math and English. Science changes the world!

My Project

My students love science. They are still young and enthusiastic about science. When I bring out the microscopes that are intended for kindergarteners they become disenchanted and feel as though they are being cheated on their shot to use a real microscope. My students deserve microscopes that are fit for junior high school students' growing statures. They need a microscope that is easy to use and able to be used without the worry of burning themselves because the light bulbs overheat. Help me light up their minds safely!

Science is great and my students need to be able to experience great science.
