This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember playing outside as a child and exploring the world around you? My students live in an urban area where it is not safe to play outside. Please help me to bring the outside inside for them.
I teach in a public inner city school where 100% of the students receive free lunch and free breakfast.
We are a multicultural school where several languages are spoken by our students. Many of my students have lived in poverty their whole lives. When I tell them we are going to explore the wild life in the school yard, they tell me that nothing lives out there. They are so surprised to see all of the living things that they find after we go exploring.
My Project
I have requested a variety of biology supplies to help me to supplement a text book curriculum. Science should not be learned from a text book. Science needs to be experienced. With these materials we can "do" science. We will still use our text book as a reference, but these hand's on materials will greatly enhance our curriculum.
With your gracious donation to our classroom you will be supplying experiences that will last a lifetime.
My students are always so grateful and excited whenever new things are introduced into the classroom. Thank you in advance for making science come alive for us.
