My Students
This year I am at a new school teaching a new group of students in Kindergarten through 5th grades. Each student is unique and has different needs and abilities.
My students are excited young learners who thrive in an active and engaging learning environment.
I need to provide as many experiences as possible to help stimulate learning. We need materials that are durable and long lasting.
My Project
The pill bug kit and betta tank will be considered classroom pets. The plant supplies will be used for each of my students to grow a plant, likely a spider plant, all year long as their personal 'pet'. These living things will teach my students how to care for things that having meaning specifically for them (plants) as well as those that also belong to the community (pill bugs and betta fish).
The pill bug kit, betta tank and supplies, and plants will be used all school year to teach my students how to take care of living things to learn about life science and social emotional learning.
I will be applying for a Pets in the Classroom grant to purchase the betta fish and additional supplies necessary for the tank and upkeep for the year.
