Life of A Reader: Swiftie-Inspired Books

Help me give my students Taylor Swift inspired books to draw in our readers with Life of a Showgirl coming out.

My Project

The release of a new Taylor Swift album is a major cultural moment for our middle school students. Her music and storytelling captivate their imaginations and speak to their experiences. We want to use this incredible momentum to highlight the joy of reading and to show students that they can find the same artistry, emotion, and fun in our library's collection.

This project will allow us to create a special display in our media center featuring a wide array of Swiftie-inspired books.

We'll start with biographies like Who Is Taylor Swift?: Deluxe Edition to help students learn about her journey, and fashion guides like Taylor Swift Style: Fashion Through the Eras to explore her iconic aesthetic. This will give them a deeper appreciation for her work and influence.

We will also acquire books that explore the literary connections within her lyrics, such as Taylor Swift by the Book and Stars Around My Scars. These titles will be a powerful tool, helping students analyze themes, symbolism, and poetry in a context they already love. By adding fiction titles like The Summer of Broken Rules and the Complete Nate Paperback Trilogy, we can show them how the themes of friendship, romance, and growing up from her songs are reflected in great stories.

In addition, the collection will include titles related to Travis Kelce, like Who Is Travis Kelce? and Love Story: Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift, which tap into another major pop culture phenomenon that our students are following. This allows us to attract even more readers and show that our library is a place for all their interests.
