Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school children do not want to sit and fill out worksheets. They now want to apply what they are learning on the mini iPads and Boogie Boards. The right kind of apps help learners apply what they have learned. My learners are yearning for the chance to use Boogie Boards.

My students come from low income families.

More than 90% percent of my students receive free or reduced lunch. The children in both my classrooms want to learn as much as they can during the school day. They now that help is limited at home. My school wants to move into the right direction of using more technology but we need help. My students want to use technology as a gateway to excel in their learning.

My Project

I am requesting two mini iPads and nine Boogie Boards. My students will use the mini iPads for both math and science. They will use apps like Skitch, Educreations, and Google docs in order to create images that display their learning. On the mini iPads my students will be able to take a picture of their learning and use it for real life applications to what they are learning in class. I see my students taking a picture outside and then labeling living and nonliving organisms. I see them on that same picture then sorting the living and nonliving. Then taking it further and stating the reason why they were sorted in that manner. My students will take the mini iPads to lunch and take a picture and then label the fraction of the burger they have eaten. My learners will see how what is learned in class about math and science is applied to our real lives not isolation. My learners will also take turns using the boogie boards to show what they are learning thus making their learning more interactive.

The mini iPads and the boogie boards will make a life long impact on the amount of learning occurring in my classroom.

They will help me see that learning is taking place on a daily basis all day long in order to make adjustments on the spot. It will change the lives of my students that come from low income families. My learners will be inspired to seek careers in math and science. My students will seek careers in engineering, chemistry, biology, and math.
