My Students

Some of my students have not yet discovered books that capture their imaginations. This could be the year that magic happens and they fall in love with books.

My school is an inner city school with 82% of the students being economically disadvantaged.

The students at my school come from various backgrounds and have many different styles of learning, but they are always ready and eager to learn. The students come each day looking for a safe, comfortable and happy place to learn. For some, our school is the most stable place in their lives. Many of the students go home at night and don't have books to read or other materials they need to get their homework done. Our school makes it a priority to put all student needs first.

My Project

Do you remember being read to as a child? Listening to stories aloud helps a reader learn and grown that much more. The books I am asking for are lower levels (grades 1-3/levels E-N) because my students are on a variety of levels. In my 4th grade classroom, I do not have many books below grade level. These resources will help me expose a variety of books to my students on their level. It will encourage them to read more and improve their reading level. It is my goal to have all of my students show 1 1/2 - 2 years growth in reading levels. In order to do that, we need more resources! My students need 15 additional Leveled Literacy book sets on a variety of lower levels.

Reading is such a huge part of school every day.
