My Students
I have the best group of first grade students. They are so excited about being at school with their friends and love to learn every day. They greet me every morning with a big hug, eat their breakfast, and then are ready to start their day!
We are 100% free and reduced lunch so all of my students receive free breakfast which we get to enjoy in the classroom together each morning, and they get free lunch.
They are so special because no matter what they are going through at home, each and every one of them are excited about school and are excited to be there. Their excitement for learning motivates me to do the best I can for them.
My Project
In a classroom of 27 students, my number one academic goal for them is to make sure they are reading on grade level by the time they leave first grade. It is a lofty goal as all of our students have faced extra challenges lately between learning online, hybrid learning, and the life difficulties they already face at such a young age.
I am looking to learn more about other ways to teach students to read so that I can have success with all of my students.
In some cases students are needing to make up two years worth of learning in order for me to make my goal.
