My Students
My school provides free breakfast and lunch for students. However, we have many students that still start the day without breakfast because they are late to school or they do not eat what is being served.
My school is over 95% free and reduced lunch.
These students come from very poor backgrounds, and sometimes do not get the chance to eat much at home. Due to their age and our school schedule, my students eat lunch at 10:30am. Many of them are often hungry again by 1pm. Unfortunately, our school does not end until 3pm. The hungrier they get, the lower their attention span gets.
My Project
I often provide snacks to my students because proper nutrition is important to a child's success in school. Many students need a snack to help them concentrate in class. I am requesting a variety of snacks including Pringles, Goldfish, Cheez-Its, Grandma's Cookies, and much more for my students to stay energized to learn throughout the day. Each day, I want to provide my students with a healthy choice of something to eat when they are hungry so that they can focus on learning instead of being hungry.
As a teacher, I often do not have money to spare to buy snacks for my students.
If these students get snacks, their attention is so much better, and they are able to learn more in the process. Any support that could be provided would be appreciated.
