This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My second grade students are inquisitive and are eager to expand their knowledge about the variety of topics that we learn on a daily basis.
Their enthusiasm in learning is evident because they are always finding ways to be challenged.
They have a strong desire to succeed despite limited resources and obstacles beyond their control.
Our school is located in a high poverty area and most students have parents that don't speak English. Access to technology at home is limited.
My Project
Because our community is comprised of families that experience financial burden, many times they aren't able to meet certain needs for our students. Some of them have come to me complaining about how much their arms itch due to dry skin. Others frequently say their lips hurt because they are chapped.
The essential items I have requested will be used at home and will be available for use in the classroom.
Tissues will come in handy when they have a cold. The disinfecting wipes will be used to clean their desks on a weekly basis in order to reduce germs in the classroom.
Having these supplies will allow the students to be comfortable as they focus on their studies.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
