My students need a habitat center, butterfly and frog kits, newsprint paper, bug viewer, markers, and construction paper.

My Students

My students face many challenges. By having this living habitat in the art room for all students to see each week With"Furry Vengeance" I hope to encourage empathy for living things and interest in protecting the environment.

I have a wide array of children from a very varied backgrounds.

In our district is the homeless shelter. The children from here truly have nothing. Many of these children start kindergarten not even knowing which way to hold a book. Others come from very wealthy families and have a wide range of abilities. We are in a k-5 school which was renovated and changed over from a middle school around 9 years ago. A number of initiatives were never quite completed.

My Project

This living habitat will benefit the whole school (485 students) because all will observe it weekly as they enter the Art Room. My desire is to keep the habitat continually growing and constantly changing through out the year year after year. Some students will be able to see a and growing habitat of 6 years.

This project is so important on many levels.

It will reach all student in my pre-k through 5 school. And, it encourages students to want to learning about living things and protecting the environment in an interdisciplinary approach.
