This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Playing chess allows students to become strategic thinkers and promotes the importance of decision making. During clubs students will be paired up with a classmate to play a game of chess. In the process of playing chess, students will not only have fun but they will learn how to think critically to decide what is the best move to make to be successful in the game. The goal is for students to understand that chess in many ways is a simplified version of life. Everyone of your decisions can have consequences or can have rewards!

The Chess sets will provide many life skills that young students can use when they are faced with making difficult decisions in life.

This year, I have seen how chess has intrigued the minds of students. Students have invested free time to play and learn. Investing time into learning is the first step to making a good decision. The next step is to learn how strategize and make decisions that benefit you with positive outcomes.
