I am a first grade teacher in an inner-city public school.
Our school is also Title I and is located in California. There are 24 wonderful students in my classroom. Most of my students are English Learners so I need to provide lots of visuals and realias during my lessons.
My Project
My students will be learning about the Life Cycle of Butterfly. I will be using the Butterfly Puppet and Life Cycle Demonstration Kit to introduce and go over the four stages of the life cycle of the butterfly to the students. Butterfly Pavilion will provide students with experiences that they will never forget. They will watch and learn how caterpillars change into chrysalis and into a butterfly. Students will learn about the importance of living things and also learn about responsibilities. They will take care of the butterflies by providing sugar water and flowers. Students will be using the Science File Folder Games during Independent Work Time. It will give them some time to reinforce what they have learned about butterflies and its life cycle.
I want to make this science lesson memorable for my students by bringing in the live caterpillars.
