This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students at my school are wonderful. They strive to be the best with limited resources.

As an 8th grade Language Arts/Reading teacher, I have assessed students in my grade to be at the 5th-11th grade reading level.

The current materials we have do not provide enough individualized instruction to such a large array of student abilities. I would love to see my students reach their full potential, with success, to make individual reading and vocabulary gains for high school and beyond.

My Project

We will begin our Survival Unit and need about 30 more books so that students may take a copy home to continue reading. It is vital to student comprehension to have a novel for each student. They can add sticky notes to pages and mark important events in the book.

Students learn best when they have a physical copy of the novel to use in class.

We are hoping to have one novel for each of our 110 eighth grade students.
