My Project

Students in the LIFE Academy Program are typically aged 18-22 and have intellectual disabilities. They may struggle to learn effectively if they are unable to regulate their physical and emotional states. A key aspect of supporting the mental health of this population involves teaching them strategies to manage their bodily and emotional regulation.

To address these needs, we are requesting the following items:

Snacks: Providing accessible snacks can assist students who experience hunger, which can impact their ability to focus and learn.

Sensory Tools: Items such as moldable dough or sand can offer beneficial sensory input for students who require it.

Flexible Seating: Offering a variety of seating options allows students to choose arrangements that best meet their individual needs and preferences.

By implementing these accommodations, staff can create an environment that supports the unique learning and regulatory needs of young adults in the LIFE Academy Program.
