Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In my third grade Spanish-side dual language classroom, students are growing as bilingual readers, thinkers, and leaders. However, finding high-quality, culturally relevant books in Spanish can be challenging. This project, “Libros Que Nos Representan: Building Our Spanish Library, will help create a rich and diverse classroom library where my students can see themselves reflected in the stories they read.
With your support, I hope to add engaging bilingual and Spanish chapter books, leveled readers, and book bins to organize our growing collection.
These books will not only build vocabulary and reading stamina, but also foster a love for reading in Spanish, something that’s critical for their success in a dual language program. When students feel connected to what they’re reading, they feel more confident, curious, and empowered.
