Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our high school is a small school with big school ambitions. The educators are continuously striving to make themselves better for the wonderful students who attend here. My students are English language learners who are recent immigrants to the United States. Many of my students have experienced interrupted schooling due to various reasons beyond their control. Most of my students are from Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.
My students are very eager to learn everything they can to make up for their lost learning time.
If I can provide them with the necessary materials to catch up to their peers, my students will shine brightly. We need to show these students that we care and will do our best to help them in the classroom and in their new country.
My Project
Please help provide a Spanish library for my high school students. We read a minimum of 30 minutes per day and I want my students to be able to see themselves in the classroom library. I also want to provide them with meaningful opportunities to explore their native language while they are learning English.
The books I have compiled are part of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, an engaging, funny, interesting book series that will get the students reading.
For some students, these are the only books they have read in completion.
