My students need iPads in order to use Apps that will build their literacy and math skills. We hope eventually have 25 iPads in the library to serve all of our students.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am the school librarian and I get to see over 500 students a week. Students get to listen to stories and watch videos I play for them before checking out books to read but I would love for them to have iPads in the library that will help them continue to build their literacy and math skills.
My students are from grades Kindergarten through 8th grade at a Title I school.
They get excited whenever they get a chance to check out library books. I also give them an opportunity to use the five computers I currently in the library and they have to take turns using them to play educational games on them. Some times there are classes that have up to 36 kids and they don't get a chance to use the computers.
My Project
I am requesting 7 iPads today but eventually I would like to have a whole class set of 25 iPads so that we can have a technology center with bean bag chairs like they have at the Apple Stores. The students would be able to use the iPads every time they come to the library to use Apps that will help them build their literacy and math skills.
Donations for this project will help our students have access to technology.
So many of our children do not have technology at home and don't get a chance to use it unless they are at school. We want all of our students to be able to build their literacy skills and their math skills and providing them with access to iPads will help them be college and career ready and give them a jump start at preparing for life in the real world.
