Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have 734 students who love coming to library for Focus Groups every week! My students are eager and energetic learners who enjoy reading and being read to.

Our school is a Title I school as my students come from low income families.

One hundred percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Over 85% of the children are of Hispanic descent and many of them are bilingual.

My students would love new, updated books for the new reading program that we are starting soon.

My Project

I have worked as the librarian at my school for the last six years. Since that time, I haven't been able to purchase any new books because I do not have a book fund. The books that I am requesting are the ones that the students ask for and that we either don't have or have limited access to. It would be great to be able to add them to our collection as we begin a new reading program.

My students would be ecstatic to have these books added to our library collection!

Having these newer books that are interesting to them would definitely spark their interest and motivate them to read!
