Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students walk in with smiles every morning. They are loving, intelligent, and eager to learn every day. As an educator, I strive to keep this eagerness to learn well beyond the school year.
We are a low income/ high poverty school district with little to no resources.
The majority of my students come from homes where parents work more than one job to provide the basic necessities. Despite these challenges, both parents and students value education.
My classroom is a preschool blended classroom, meaning it is an inclusion based curriculum where students with special needs work alongside their general education peers. The special education teacher and I partner to implement lessons that are appropriate for all students.
My Project
My students love listening to stories in every possible way. My goal is to place these iPads in the classroom library so that students can listen to books independently.
Because my students are so young and some have special needs, at times they have difficulties sitting and listening to a read aloud.
I want to provide every student with ample many ways to enjoy books.
With these iPads, my students will not only be able to listen to stories daily but also engage with books on various digital libraries. These iPads will be used as books to continuously reinforce literacy.
