This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
An Exploration Station, where students can find books on a particular topic, along with corresponding models, displays, puzzles, and opportunity for learning with a Merge Cube will be a perfect addition to our school's library media center. More and more, our school's students come into the library looking for books about animals, planets, the moon, Native Americans, and geography, among a multitude of topics.
What better than to capitalize on their curiosity than have an area where students can find information about a featured topic, explore it in depth, and communicate with peers at their fingertips?
Our library media center already has beautiful books about almost anything students are interested in, but I know these Magic School Bus non-fiction companions will appeal to lots of readers. The shelves would allow me to display resources, and the Merge Cubes would provide an opportunity for students to "touch" and experience plant cells, the Earth, volcanoes, the human body, and much more through augmented reality, as our District already subscribes to the application needed. Models would add to the hands-on nature of this space.
