My students need a classroom library checkout system where they can properly borrow and return books throughout the year.

My Students
My students are creative, hilarious, and endearingly hopeful children who, as English as a Second Language learners, do not hear the English language beyond our school. Their parents do not have the language skills to ask them questions about their learning or reinforce lessons learned in school. This upcoming year, I am teaching Special Education in addition to my English as a Second Language population. In order to truly differentiate my teaching and address all the needs of my students, I want to reach the wide range of interests. My students are eager and curious children who enjoy learning. I teach at a Title I school, meaning that nearly all of my students live below the nation-wide poverty line. Beyond the classroom, my students rarely interact with English texts. These new resources would excite the students' naturally inquisitive minds and motivate them to explore topics beyond my explicit teachings.
My Project
I am requesting library cards and library pockets for my classroom library. My students love borrowing books such as Dog Man, Geronimo Stilton, and Big Nate. Because of their preference to borrow certain favorites, sometimes the books don't get returned for several months and others don't get to read them. I have tried several checkout systems such as a digital scanner app, recording in a log book, and using blank index cards similar to the public library. All of these systems have failed because of slow WiFi while trying to use the scanner app, students taking too long to record the book titles in the log book, and students creating multiple index cards for the same book.
Nothing beats using a simple and effective checkout system such as the one used by the public library.
These self adhesive library pockets along with pre-printed cards will make a huge difference in creating a library checkout system that works.
