This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are inner-city children, some English language learners, with diverse backgrounds and unique histories full of triumphs and challenges. Every day, we come together to learn and "grow our brains"! I try to reinforce this idea in every lesson they experience. They are a caring, energetic bunch, who are eager to learn and ready to collaborate. In our classroom, learning about and from each other is as common as learning reading, writing, and arithmetic. My students learn that more can be accomplished whey they work together and when there is solidarity. This comes in handy every day as they work to view challenges, both social and academic, as an opportunity for growth. My kiddies are strong, empathetic, and engaged learners!
My Project
Over the years I've manged to build quite a robust classroom library for my students to enjoy and build the literacy skills necessary for becoming lifelong readers. However, storage is slim! The shelves that I currently have just aren't enough to hold all of the books and those on the shelves are cramped.
This library storage cart would make MORE BOOKS available to my students.
Plus, books wouldn't be so cramped, making book shopping way easier and smoother. With more space for books to live in, accidental damages to them would be minimized. Your generous donation to this project will make a BIG difference in my student's classroom and in their lives as readers and writers.
