Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As teachers, we are oftentimes provided with raw materials from which we are expected to create magic. In an alchemical process, we turn schools into communities, classrooms into centers for innovation, and children into scholars. Although many of us receive the essential instructional materials that we need to teach, we all know that the bare essentials rarely meet the needs of our diverse learners; furthermore, the bare essentials rarely encourage a lifelong love of learning. This year, I am trying to give my TK Troopers the best experience during center based learning by giving them a new library set up, and new play dough for their sensory center. I was provided with the essential instructional materials, such as books, and book stands for a library, but I need comfortable chairs and a more welcoming environment.
Providing flexible seating in the classroom library would make the experience of reading a much more enjoyable one for all of my students and a more effective one for my students who are developing their ability to sit for extended periods of time.
I would also like to restock the play dough center where my students get to enjoy developing their fine motor skills, while they also learn to socialize with their peers. Please help my TK Troopers grow to be their best scholarly selves!
