Liberty City Computer and Snacks

Help me give my students a laptop to work on iReady, Elevate Science Florida Edition, and Go Math. In addition, printer ink, snacks, treats, Sensory Toys Set, and Stress Balls.

My Students

Our school is located in the inner city with underprivileged families striving for a better life. Single parents, grandparents, and older siblings continue to do their very best to instill a better way of living for their families. They face many challenges, but that doesn't impede them from wanting to learn or stop them from dreaming big.

We are 95% African American, 2% Haitian American, 2% Hispanic, and 1% Caucasian, with 97% of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch.

Teachers create a safe, fun, and empowering classroom for our students to help them thrive in all areas of their lives. I love my students and spend most of my out-of-the-classroom time developing projects to enhance their learning and well-being.

My Project

The laptops that I was given this year leave A. LOT. TO. BE. DESIRED. Mind you, these are small children. They are 6-7 years old. My students who have the greatest need for assistance need proper computers in the classroom so that they can have a positive association with computer-based instruction. This project is intended to take away that frustration so that learning can continue. There are six students who are still learning English, four students identified as having learning problems/needs, and three visually impaired students.

Basic needs in the classroom are working technology, healthy snacks for growing bodies, focus items, and printer ink cartridges so that certificates of award can be printed.

Healthy snacks to fuel their learning brains and grumbling tummies will ensure students will be successful in the classroom because their need for nourishment won't be a priority.

Snacks will be used for after-school tutoring, treats for returned home learning, and good behavior. Also, we would appreciate some fidget toys and stress balls to help my students focus when needed. Finally, we need printer ink cartridges for our classroom printer so that we can create full-color certificates to celebrate successes.
