LHS Solves For Tomorrow

Help me give my students technology to enhance their educational experiences. Included is a Tv and sound, 3D Laser engraver, Drone and much more.

My Students

My students are in a small, rural public school. They are tenth grade biology students, and 11th grade Algebra II students, mostly. Most, if not all, live in extremely, tough, poverty conditions. All get free lunch due to extreme poverty in the area. This also causes our teachers to make almost 5K less than neighboring parishes (counties). They are trying to learn math and biology in a school that finds it extremely difficult to find certified teachers to teach, as well as funds for projects. They have one of the lowest salaries for teachers in the state.

Most of my students have little or no plans for their futures.

We receive no funds/budget for supplies individually for teachers.

Our school students are mostly minority (over two-thirds) and have many life challenges.

The new story-line curriculum looks for a lab budget of thousands. We are given $0 for supplies.

My students get excited about potential field trips and the gamification of education. For many, if not most of them, these things are not in their budget. Labs are exciting but we need supplies!

SAMSUNG with the Samsung Solve Challenge pushes us to Problem Based Learning (PBL) yet most of our competition is wealthier.

My Project

In the words of one of my principals, our classes will be the classrooms of tomorrow! This is an amazing opportunity to change the atmosphere after such a dismal year with Corona, Ice Storms, several Hurricanes, and more!

Putting technology into classes that have little or none will be a game-changer!

Our students will now have a state-of-the-art opportunity to use 3D printing, Laser engraving, and so much more. Our classes will now begin to rival the STEM schools we compete with in this contest with Samsung.

Our school had almost no resources to start with and as we have seen in other video(s), we will now have much to bring us to the next level in this competition for next year!
